Do single people need life insurance? |
|
It all depends on whether someone in your life depends on you financially. Some single people provide financial support for aging parents, siblings, or even a niece or a nephew. They might have significant debt that they wouldn't want to pass on to family members who survive them. These are all good reasons to consider buying term life insurance with a lump-sum death benefit. If you’re young, healthy and have a good family health history, your insurability is at its peak and you’ll be rewarded with the cheapest rates on life insurance. If you anticipate a need for life insurance down the road (marriage, children) and you can work it into your budget, it might be smart to lock in coverage while you're young and single. If you can afford it now you won’t have to worry about qualifying for coverage down the road when you’re older, or perhaps not as healthy as you once were.
