You no longer have to delay shopping for life insurance because you are a cigarette smoker. The highly competitive life insurance market has created more affordable options for those who cannot kick the habit. Yes, smokers will likely pay higher premium rates than a healthy non-smoker but there are better deals in the industry for smokers now than ever before.

Many insurance companies will put tobacco users in a special category and often offer them rates that are at least double the price they offer non-tobacco users.
